Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Deku Studios LLC ("Deku Studios," "we," "us," or "our") makes Throneguild, a kingdom-building game. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the Throneguild mobile and web applications, the throneguild.com website, and related services (together, the "Game").
This Privacy Policy is part of the Throneguild Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in those Terms.
Throneguild is separate from Deku Studios' real-money skill games. It has no cash prizes, no deposits, and no withdrawals, so we do not collect identity documents, tax information, or precise location to play it. The Deku Studios Privacy Policy at docs.deku.net covers those other games, not Throneguild.
Today, throneguild.com is a preview site. It has no accounts and no sign-up forms. Sections that describe accounts, gameplay, and purchases apply once the Game is available to play.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Give Us
Account information. Your email address and the sign-in method you choose. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information you allow that provider to share, usually your name and email address. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a relay address instead.
Your House. The name of your House, its banner, colors, emblem and motto, your character's heritage and appearance, and any other names or text you enter in the Game. These are visible to other players (see Section 4.1).
Messages to us. When you contact support or answer a survey, we collect what you send, your email address, and any attachments.
Age. We may ask for your age or date of birth when you create an account, to apply the age rules in Section 9.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Gameplay data. Your actions in the Game, such as plots bought and sold, buildings raised, Buyouts and Contests (including minigame scores and inputs), Gold earned and spent, Seals and other virtual items obtained and used, progress and milestones, and the realm and settlements you play in.
Purchase records. When you buy Seals or other items, the app store or payment processor tells us what you bought, the price, currency, date, a transaction reference, and its status (including refunds). We do not receive your full card or bank details.
Device and app information. Device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, screen size, and identifiers assigned to our apps (such as Apple's Identifier for Vendors or an installation ID). If we send push notifications, we also store your device's push token.
Usage, log, and diagnostic data. Screens and features used, session times, connection and server logs, performance measurements, and crash and error reports.
Network information. Your IP address and connection type. We may use your IP address to estimate your country or region (not your precise location), for example to set the right store prices, apply local rules, and protect against abuse.
2.3 Information From Others
Sign-in providers. Apple and Google, as described in Section 2.1.
App stores and payment processors. Purchase, refund, and fraud signals about transactions you make.
2.4 What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, government ID, biometric data, or Social Security numbers to run the Game.
3. How We Use Information
- Run the Game. Create and secure your account, save your progress, run the shared world and its realms, process Buyouts, Contests and other actions, deliver purchases, and keep your House and its holdings consistent across devices.
- Fair play and safety. Detect and prevent cheating, bots, multiple accounts used to gain an advantage, exploits, fraud, chargeback abuse, and offensive names or content; enforce our Terms.
- Support and communication. Answer your requests and send service messages such as account, purchase, and security notices. If we send optional news or push notifications, you can turn them off (Section 7).
- Improve the Game. Understand how the Game is played, balance the economy, fix bugs, and measure performance.
- Legal reasons. Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4.1 Other Players
Other players can see your House name, banner, colors, emblem, motto, character appearance, the settlements and plots you hold, your buildings, your HQ, your public record (such as your Contest win rate), and actions you take that affect them, such as a Buyout of their plot. This information may also appear on leaderboards and other public pages of the Game.
4.2 Service Providers
We use service providers that process information for us under contracts that limit their use of it. They include providers for: account sign-in and session management; game servers, databases, and cloud hosting; file and content delivery; product analytics (PostHog); crash, error, and performance monitoring (Sentry); website analytics (Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies); email delivery; push notifications; customer support; and payment processing for any purchases made on the web.
4.3 App Stores
Purchases in our iOS and Android apps are processed by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. We share with them what is needed to verify and deliver your purchase.
4.4 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is required by law or legal process, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Deku Studios, our players, or others, including to investigate fraud or cheating.
4.5 Business Transfers
If Deku Studios is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will give notice as required by law.
4.6 Aggregated or De-identified Data
We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so it cannot reasonably be linked to you, such as overall play statistics.
4.7 Advertising
Throneguild does not currently include advertising, ad-attribution, or cross-app tracking SDKs, and our website does not use advertising cookies or pixels. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and ask for any permission required (such as Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt) before any tracking begins.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes in this policy. In general:
- Account and House information: while your account is open. After deletion it is deleted or anonymized within ninety (90) days, except as listed below.
- Gameplay history: while your account is open. Records of actions that affected other players (such as a Buyout or Contest result) may be kept in de-identified form so the shared world stays consistent.
- Purchase records: up to seven (7) years, for accounting, tax, refund, and fraud purposes.
- Fair-play and enforcement records: up to three (3) years after the last enforcement action, to prevent repeat abuse.
- Support messages: up to three (3) years after the request is resolved.
- Logs and diagnostics: generally up to ninety (90) days.
We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest in our hosting providers, access controls that limit staff access to what is needed, and multi-factor authentication for administrative tools. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
7.1 Account and House Details
You can change your sign-in email and many House details in the Game's settings, subject to the naming rules in our Terms.
7.2 Push Notifications and Email
You can turn off push notifications in your device settings or in the Game. You can unsubscribe from any optional email using the link in it. We will still send service messages about your account and purchases.
7.3 Account Deletion
You can delete your account in the Game's settings, or by emailing support@deku.net from the email address on your account. Deleting your account removes your House from the Game, ends your access, and forfeits your Gold, Seals, plots, buildings and other virtual items. It cannot be undone once complete. We delete or anonymize your personal information as described in Section 5.
7.4 Access, Correction, Deletion, and Portability
You can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask for it in a portable format, by emailing privacy@deku.net. We will verify your request (usually by confirming control of your account email) and respond within forty-five (45) days, or sooner where the law requires.
8. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, New Jersey, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Kentucky, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, to receive a portable copy, and to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
California. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, in the past twelve (12) months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (email, account ID, device identifiers, IP address); commercial information (purchase records); internet or other electronic network activity (gameplay and usage data); approximate location derived from IP address; and inferences we draw for fair-play purposes. We collect them from you, your device, and the sources in Section 2.3, for the purposes in Section 3, and disclose them to the recipients in Section 4. We do not sell or share personal information and have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under sixteen (16). We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
How to make a request. Email privacy@deku.net. You may use an authorized agent with your written permission. If we deny your request, you may appeal by emailing privacy@deku.net with the subject line "Privacy Appeal"; we will respond within sixty (60) days. If the appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
9. Children and Teens
Throneguild is not directed to children under thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen (13). If you live in a country where the minimum age to consent to data processing is higher, you must meet that age or have your parent or guardian's consent. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under thirteen (13) without verified parental consent, we will delete it and close the account.
Players aged thirteen (13) to seventeen (17) may use the Game only with a parent or guardian's permission, and should involve them before making any purchase.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under thirteen (13) has given us personal information, please contact privacy@deku.net.
10. International Users
Deku Studios is based in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Data-protection laws there may differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Users in the EU, EEA, and UK. We process your personal information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (running the Game and delivering purchases); our legitimate interests (fair play, security, and improving the Game, balanced against your rights); your consent where we ask for it (for example, optional notifications); and to comply with legal obligations. You have the rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Representative. We have appointed Prighter Group, with its local partners, as our privacy representative in the European Union and the United Kingdom. To contact us through Prighter or to exercise your rights, visit https://app.prighter.com/portal/11306238665.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The Game and our website may link to third-party services, such as app stores or social networks. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will give notice in the Game or by email where practicable, before it takes effect.
